Waves!

Andy and Dave headed home Wednesday morning, and the rest of us took off on an adventure to show 2 first-timers the Pacific Ocean!  Truth be told, most of us in the group got to set eyes on the ocean for our first time in the dead of winter.  Odd timing, but it's becoming a bit of a tradition!
First-timer #1: Marshal - celebrating the end of his high school career and the beginning of many more adventures!
First-timer #2: Cali - celebrating graduation from puppy behavior class and *hopefully* about to discover an affinity for the roaring ocean waves and entertaining seagulls.
She's got a lot of catching up to do to match the pure joy Jersey exhibits on the coast!  I mean, look at her!  She's so giddy, she's clicking her heels!!
We were pretty excited to play in the water...but wooooeee!
That frigid wind and those icy waves got the best of us in a hurry!
We lasted all of about 15 minutes, and gathered for a quick group shot before running back to shelter.  Of course, my poor posers had to face into the driving rain because my lens couldn't!  And, their face expressions are so priceless, I just have to show you all of the attempts to catch some smiles...
We attempted to dry off in the cars while eating our delicious packed lunches, then headed to the aquarium to prolong our coast adventure out of the weather.  We started the tour with feeding the sealions.
You stand a few feet back and toss the food over the barrier, and those adorable little creatures know exactly what's going on.  They slap their chests and call for the next nibble to be tossed their way!  Each one went about it a little differently.  For example, there was a little guy who couldn't make much of a slapping noise but sure stirred up the water in his attempts, and the clever/lazy one that laid back on the rock and just opened his mouth to catch well-aimed pieces.
This wasn't your huge, walk-through-tunnels-of-fish aquarium, but they had great displays and information.  My favorites: Starfish and the Octopus!

A perfect way to end a trip to Oregon!  Marie and I had to return home the next day, and I hear we missed out on some more good times :)

I love how miserable we all look in those group shots.
