It was quite the night with 5 air mattresses strewn all over Beth's apartment - rubbing loudly against the wood floor every time someone turned over. (Colleen came to the rescue the next night and flipped the mattresses over, soft-side down)
Suzie, Beth, and I had so much fun with our covered bridges scavenger hunt last year, we wanted to do it again! This time, we went for all big, red bridges. There's just something so picturesque about them. We were looking for the bridges along the road from Lancaster County to Hershey PA. We'd had a wonderful breakfast at Shady Maple Smorgasbord - You pick a grill line (omelets or pancakes of any flavor you could imagine) and watch them cook your request right there. Fresh, yummy goodness. We were a happy bunch! As we cruised along in our fancy minivan, with our GPS guiding us, it was delightfully ironic to watch the buggies going by.
Bridge #1 was in a park of sorts. It was very much intact, and beautiful as ever - made me want to click my heels.

Bridge #2 was just along a country road, between some lovely homes. It had the most perfect autumn backdrop of dry corn stalks, a creek, and trees with turning leaves.
Bridge #3 was in a quiet campground. It was pretty dilapidated and full of junk, but a covered bridge nonetheless. The aged red-painted wood prompted a goofy photo shoot.
You see, Beth and I passed our years together in Moscow with spontaneous photo-booth-style photo shoots at the UI arboretum's red barn. We can't resist!
Bridge #4 covered a rather busy street, with a high school on one side and fairgrounds on the other. This one was especially cool since it had windows!
There were events going on at the fairgrounds, and we got lots of looks from passers-by as we did the push-the-button-and-run group photos :)
Of course, we had to go check out the tractor show at the fair grounds before continuing on to Hershey
