The following weekend, we were invited to be the sponsored club at a car show in Asotin, called Chrome on the Creek. We had a number of club cars not yet ready to drive, or in the process of being sold, but we managed to pull together a good group.
Andy, I, Forrest, and Dottie headed down to Lewiston the night before to go bowling with Luke and Thu who live there. We got there in time for the black-light-loud-music version and practically had the whole place to ourselves! It's an old enough establishment, the man at the counter has to enter your names and start the game. He didn't ask how to spell any of them.....and we ended up with a Froist on the team! :)
The next morning, we met at a Lewiston park to head to Asotin as a club. Monte pulled in with his newly-finished car! Maiden voyage!
Of course, this called for a huddle of sorts...
The short drive along the river ended at another park right along the Asotin Creek. Pulling in, we were welcomed to "Chrome on the Crick". Can't help but smile that we had it wrong all along!
There was plenty of shady parking, and some delicious breakfast and fun to be had.
The highlight of the day was Hot Wheels racing. We all got to choose a car and face off on the awesome racetrack. Just like drag racing, you watch the lights, and when it goes green you push the button! Of course, if you can predict it a hair ahead, you have the advantage as long as you don't get too antsy and press the button too soon!
It was a hoot to race and to watch! Uncle Bill and Aunt Barb and their car club were there, and it kinda turned into a KunckleSkrape'Rs vs. Chevy club competition. Good times!
We talked about swimming in the Creek, as it was another day in the
100s, but the shade sufficed and Monte's stories of rattlesnakes in the
Creek made it sound less appealing. Andy and I cruised home as a fiery
red sun was setting.
Ahh, summertime.
